Old Time Resident Of Freewater Dies
MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore -- Mrs. Mary Seamer Groth of Freewater died Wednesday morning after a short illness in a Milton nursing home. She was born November 7, 1869 in Clinton county, Iowa and had lived in Freewater since 1894.
Two sons, carl and Fred of Miton-Freewater survive, also two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Lorenzen and Mrs. Goldie Peters, both of Pendleton, a brother, William R. Seamer of Clinton, Iowa, four grandchildren and five great grand-children.
The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Walla Walla, of which she was a member at 2 o'clock, standard time. The Rev. H.L. Daugs will officiate. Burial will be in the Milton I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Same Church Scene of Wedding, Anniversary
The Milton-Freewater First Baptist Church provided setting for a reception Sunday, July 14, marking the golden anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Groth -- the same church where they were married Sept. 8, 1918 by the Rev. M. G. Bentley.
The occasion was observed at this early date to coincide with arrival of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. an Mrs. Dean Groth of Honolulu. Their daughter, Mrs. Herschel Tash, and her husband make their home in Milton-Freewater.
In a setting of white antherium an yellow gladioli, arranged by Mrs. Charles Demory, guest were greeted by the honorees and their son and daughter. Granddaughter, marilee Tash, was at the guest book and orchids were presented to the women by Mrs. Dorothy Bishop.
Many assist
Granddaughters, Mrs. Wallace Louden of Kennewick and Mrs. Jack Shelton of Elgin, with assistance of a niece, Debbie Peters of Union, Ore., served the tiered anniversary cake. Presiding at hte punch bowl were mesdames Ollen Troyer, John Maxwell and Paul White. At the coffee urn were Mesdames J.J. Lorenzen, Edwin March and Raymond Harris.
Hostesses were Mesdames J.W. Peters, Will Schwandt, Harold Bishop, Alfred Peters, Millerd VanDonge, Barry VanDonge, Marville Zerba, Charles Demory, George Lund, Bill Walter and Miss Jeri Bishop. The Rev. Paul White, pastor of the church, presented the Groths a gift from the congregation.
The Groths have been engaged in farming in the same area since their marriage, and both attneded and graduated from local grade schools and high school.
Share Hobbies
Outdoor activities occupy leisure hours of the golden-weds. They share a fondness for gardening, fishing and rock hunting -- results of teh latter now being incorporated into an outdoor fireplace. Their spacious lawn is often setting for gatherings of friends and relatives.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge ie Progres de l'Oceanie, Oahu Country Club and Hawaii Yacht Club in Bremerton.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Cheri and Wally Louden of Weston and Jean and Harold Grover of Gig Harbor; son and daughter-in-law John and Susan Groth of San Rafael, Calif; sister Fergn Tash of Milton-Freewater; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
