today I found your website on the decendants of Johannes Geiß on the internet. It is quite possible that we met a few years ago here in Ober-Ohmen.
Here some additional remarks:
Johannes Geiß married Margaretha Christina Schombert on 19 July 1857 in Ober-Ohmen.
Ober-Ohmen never has belonged to Prussia, from 1806 up to 1918 it belonged to the Großherzogtum Hessen-Darmstadt, then it was reigned by the Grand-Dukes of Hessen-Darmstdt.
Another Hessian state was the now northern part of our present Federal state of Hessen. It was called Hessen-Kassel and from 1866 up to 1918 it belonged to the then Königreich Preussen = Kingdom of Prussia.

Edna McDonald
Rev. Richard Davidson, First Christian Church officiated at the funeral services
for Edna G. McDonald, 81, in the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday,
March 26.
Pall bearers were Rolland Kaesemeyer, Gordon Faires, Jim Foster, Dean Weatherman, Ray Geissel and Fred Etling.
Sacred selections by Mrs. Bern Bliss were "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden".
Mrs. Fred Etling was organist.
Mrs. McDonald was born near Weston February 22, 1893. Her parents were Peter and Ann Geiss who were wheat rancher. In 1902 they moved to Milton-Freewater. On
November 18, 1920 she married Frank McDonald and the couple spent the rest of
their lives here. He died in 1940. She had been in ill health for several years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Burial was in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery under the direction of Menselle-Rhodes
Funeral Home.

Big Jobs Taken in Stride By R.B. Taylor of Adams
R. B. (Bob) Taylor, wheatman of Adams district, recently catapulted to national prominence when he was selected by Agriculture Secretary Ezra Benson to be a member of the wheat industry advisory committee. The following biographical sketch of Adams farmer is from the June issue of "The Wheat Field." Monthly publication of Oregon Wheat Growers League—Editors)
PENDLETON – Robert Brewster Taylor, Adams wheat farmer, takes in his stride such imposing responsibilities as being president of the Pendleton Grain Growers cooperative, working actively on the national scene as a member of the wheat industry advisory committee to Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Benson, and other posts.
He does so because it’s become a way of life with him -- accepting the responsibilities that stem from a successful farming career.
His recent and important appointments to national committees were logical developments in view of his long record of activity in agriculture.
Taylor will tell any young farmer who’s interested in looking beyond his own fence row that he doesn’t have to actively seek public service – it will seek him if he takes an interest in activities surrounding farming and the community and accepts accumulating responsibility as his duty as a citizen.
Born in San Bernardino, Calif., on April 11, 1897, Taylor was the son of Robert Bartley Taylor, a Presbyterian minister.
Taylor was educated though high school in Long Beach, Calif., attending Occidental College in Los Angeles from 1916 to 1918 and Oregon State College from 1919 to 1921, when he received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture and animal husbandry.
He had been out of college for a year when he married Anna Geiss. He started farming upon leaving college, operating a dairy farm for three years in southern California before switching to wheat and livestock in Umatilla County.
He and Mrs Taylor have a son Robert Bartley Taylor, who is an instructor in anthropology at Wheaton College and a daughter, Marilyn Ruth, who is a student at Westmont College, California.
Spectacular Rise
After serving in the army in World War I, Taylor quickly got into the swift current of public life, serving as post and district commander of the American Legion in 1934 and 1935; as county and state vice-president of the Oregon Farm Bureau Federation, and as vice-president of the Oregon Wheat Growers League in 1940-41.
In 1941, he became chairman of the state Agricultural Adjustment Act committee and USDA War board, serving during World War II. He later was named chairman of the national USDA grain advisory committee.
This background of knowledge on farm problems led to greater things as in 1951 he was appointed a member of the national advisory board on mobilization policy. A year later he was named advisor to the international wheat council delegation and a member of the International Wheat Agreement advisory board.
Bank Director
He was also a director for six years of the Portland Branch, Federal Reserve Bank of San Fransico. His latest assignment is an appointment to an over-all agricultural research policy committee of the USDA.
Honor upon honor has been heaped on Taylor, a man who saw his duty to be more than working his own farm, and a man whom other farmers had confidence in because of his ability to do a job.
