JOHN LLOYD PRICE – The gentleman whose name heads this article was a native of the Blue Grass state, and when scarcely out of his swaddling clothes was taken by his parents to Missouri, where he grew to manhood, acquiring a good education in the common schools. In 1864 he traveled across the plains with ox teams to the Willamette valley, settling near McMinnville, and operating there as an agriculturist until 1873. At this date he came to this county and bought a settler’s right to a quarter-section which he homesteaded and straightway set to work to improve. Here he remained until 1881, near Weston, and then made a trip to the old home place in Missouri, remaining one year and a half, and then returned permanently to this county. He was occupied continuously in farming during his stay in the county and his record in husbandry is among the best.
In fraternal relations he was with the Grange, and his church membership was in the Methodist church, South, where he was an ardent worker and true supporter of the cause of Christianity, showing by his consistent and faithful life, as well as by his Godly words, the reality of the faith that he espoused. On July 17, 1895, he was called to the rewards awaiting him in another world, leaving a wife and six children and a wide circle of friends to mourn his departure. As of one of old, so of him it might be said: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me at that day.:
Miss Mary E. Turner, daughter of James D. and Amanda (Ensign) Turner, became the wife of John L. Price on October 18, 1866, and the following children were born to them: Thomas L., Walter D., Hettie E., Ernest, Amanda, Roy, who are living, and two others, James and Sarah who are dead.
Mrs. Price lives on the old home place, two miles west from Adams where she has a good two-story residence and a fine farm, embellished with all necessary and substantial improvements. Although bereft of her companion in the golden time of life, she continues to fight nobly the battles of the world and exemplifies that real Christian life, the best heritage to those who call her mother.

WESTON-- Mrs William S. Price has been selected as queen of the Umatilla County Pioneer association reunion, May 25 and 26.
"Queen Alice" was born near Emporia, Kan., October 4, 1874, the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Mary Maybee. In May, 1877, the family started west by covered wagon to "the land where the big red apples grow."
They arrived in the Willamette valley in September and later Mrs. Maybee said that most of the way she had carried the baby, Janet, and 'dragged' Alice, then almost three.
Came in '78
In 1878 the family came to Weston and in 1870 Maybee homesteded near Pendleton. In 1895 they moved back to Weston, which since has bee Mrs. Price's home. her residence in the county has been for 73 continous years.
October 10, 1897 she and William Price were married in the United Brethren Church, with the lat Rev. Homer Gallaher officiating. Attendants were Miss Adda Shaw and Marvin Price. It was intended to be a quiet wedding with only the wedding party present but the news had leaked out the church was filled and some interestd neighbors and friends looked in the windows. Mrs. Price believe this was the first public wedding in Weston.
The Prices were parents of a son and daughter, the former of whom died in infancy. The daughter, Mrs Lisle (Ruby) Webb of Granger, Wash., is the mother of Mrs F.M. Burns of Seattle.
Regular Attendant
"Queen Alice" has attended all Pioneer Reunions, and for several years was a member of the Weston Ladies' band, which always contributed much to the programs. When the Sons and Daughters of Pioneers were organized she was elected secretary and held that office until the group disbanded.
Mr. and Mrs. Price observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1947.
Mrs. Price is a member of the Crescent Chapter No 47 O.E.S., and assisted that organization in observance of its 50th anniversary in 1946. The chapter sponsored her as queen. She also is a member of the Saturday Afternoon club, a federated club.

Mrs. Clarissa Price, 90, of Weston, died Friday in a Milton-Freewater nursing home following 18 months of illness.
Born Aug 30, 1879 on Pea Ridge near Weston, she was one of 10 children of John and Mary O'Harra, early pioneers in the Weston area. She attended Dry Creek Grade School and in 1903 graduated from Weston Normal School.
On Nov. 30, 1904 she married Charles Price in Weston and the couple homesteaded on a farm near Blue Mountain Station. After four years they moved to the present Price farm north of Weston. Following her husband's death in August, 1945, Mrs. Price moved to Weston and her son took over the farm.
mrs. Price was queen of the Umatilla County Pioneer Reunion in 1958 at Weston. She was very active member of the Weston Methodist Church, W.S.C.S. and the Saturday Afternoon Club.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Weston Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Barley officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Cemetery.
Survivers include a son, Clifford Price, Weston, a brother, Herman E. O'Harra, Phoenix, Ariz., two grandchildren, mrs. Sandra Partin, Mountain View, Calif., and Charles M. Price, eguene, Ore., and a great-grandchild, Kevin Partin, Mountain View, Calif. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Claud Price
WESTON -- Claud J Price, 81, of Weston, died at a Milton-Freewater nursing home Friday morning. He had been in ill health since Jan. 15th of this year.
The son of pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Price, who had a big hand in shaping the destinies of the Willamette Valley and Weston in particular since 1864, he was born in Weston on Jan. 20, 1886. He had been a wheat farmer all of his life.
On Feb. 20, 1918, he married Mabel Blomgren in Weston. She died in 1952.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Price of Weston and Mrs. Forrest M. Jones of Citrus Heights, Calif. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Weston Methodist Church, of which he had been a member for 67 years, with the Rev. Everett Gardner officiating. Interment will be in the Weston Cemetery.
He was a member of the Weston Masonic Lodge.
