Notes for JOHN ARMSTRONG:

From Foxie phenwick@winco.net January 20, 2005

Hi Thanks for emailing me back...

These people are my ancestors. William M. Armstrong was born in Ireland.

He came to the USA with his father and Mother. Sarah Ann Terpening was the

daughter of John Peck And Mindwell Smith Terpening and the sister to my so

many great grandfather making me her great great great niece and the same

beings for William M. As he was an older brother to my great great great

grandmother Martha Nicolina Armstrong. These two couples were married on

the same day. March 08, 1866, at the Tylerville Church, Kelly Twp., Warren

County, IL. Sarah Ann was born in Warren County, IL. William and Sarah

moved to Colorado I think. Not sure on this. But they had a son that I

know of Charles. Who married Elzora Ireland. Maybe her father is the James

Ireland you speak of. Her parents I don't know anything about. I don't know

how or when they ended up in Oregon. Maybe the family history is wrong about

where they went. Not sure on this. Attached is a Civil War photo of William

M. Armstrong when he fought in the Civil War. You have my permission to use

it and this information as long as you tell where you got it.

What I'm looking for are any live relatives in the area. Would you know of

any? Also, any other info that you might have at your museum on them and

their descendants. I can possibly come up with a few more pictures and see

what else I can find on them. But it wasn't kept up on the Armstrong side

of the family and I'm trying to remedy that. Any help you can give me or

point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Plus, am

willing to pay for any copies and postage charges. Thanks for emailing me

back.

There is a bio on my web page on William B. Armstrong that gives the history

of the Armstrong's and where they were born. William B's and William M's

father's were brother's who came from Ireland. William M's father was John

& Frances Montgomery Armstrong. Sarah Ann Terpening Armstrong's parents

were John Peck & Mindwell Smith Terpening. Her grandfather and grandmother

were Ezekiel & Olive Terpening who came to Warren County, IL, in the early

1830's and helped to settle the county. There is also a bio on my web page

under John Peck Terpening's name describing this and listing information

about them. Thanks! Any help you can give me on any information you might

have I would love it and also on any known descendants.

Thanks, Foxie
