Vernier, Marguerite- Marguerite was the daughter of Madame Dorion by her second husband, Louis Joseph Vernier. She bore several children to Jean Baptiste Gobin, and reared at least one of her deceased brother's sons. She died in May 1858. The new cemetery at S. Louis was blessed four days later "in the presence of all the inhabitants of the Parish", and Marguerite Vernier Gobin may possible have been interred there.

Gobin, Jean Baptiste I- Two early Gobin cousins, Jean Baptiste I and Antoine, are found in Vancouver, St. Louis and St. Paul. The "Gobain" in Vancouver is the same as J.B. Gobin "of Grand Maska". In old age he said that he had come west in 1825 in a large overland Hudson's Bay Company brigade by much the same route as that of Louis and Clark, and that he had worked as builder and trapper for fifteen years. In 1840 he retired to a claim on French Prairie. He had two sons, Jean Baptiste II (1837) and Toussaint (1835) by an unnamed "savage woman". In 1841 he married Marguerite Venier, a daughter of Madam Dorion by her second Husband. To them were born Francois Xavier (1842), Angelique (1845), Julie (1849) , Isabelle (1851) Antoine (born and died in 1854) and Joseph (1856). Marguerite Venier died at St. Louis in 1858.
Gobin, in 1863, married Therese Dubrueil in a civil marriage, but "who, having been married by a justice of the peace, have come, repentant of their fault to implore the benediction of the Church", wrote Father Delorme reprovingly. Gobin's third set of children were Antoine Arsene (1864-1866), Amadee Nazaire (1866-1870), Josephine (1868-1884?) and McLacie Jeanne (1869). The doughty old father claimed to have had three wives and eleven children, though the above account numbers twelve. His wives are all accounted for. He outlived all except three children, or so he claimed.
