Sometime in 1878-79 Stone's came to Ar. by covered wagon( they had moved from Ga. to Alabama and Tn. after Civil War They seemed to stop from time to time to make crops before moving on to the next place they traveled with Davies's ,Cowarts, Whites records show they traveled in a caravan of 68 ox-drawn wagons,and horses and all their worldy goods.

Martha Virginia Davis

Martha Virginia Davis passed from this life Tuesday, February 4, 2003, in the Ryan Nursing Home, at the age of ninety-one. She was born November 1, 1911, to Albert W. Davis and Elizabeth McClannahan Davis in Cleburn, Texas. She moved to Oklahoma January 1, 1912, with her parents.

Miss Davis lived southwest of Waurika most of her early youth and high school years. She graduated in 1929, from Sugden High School and was the Valedictorian of her class. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma College for Women in 1932. In 1940, she received her Masters of Education Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Miss Davis was a teacher at Zundy Junior High in Wichita Falls for forty-four years and taught in Duncan for fourteen years. She retired May 31, 1976. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waurika where she helped prepare funeral meals for families. Miss Davis was the church librarian, a member of the shut-in committee, a member of the Pink Ladies at Jefferson County Hospital, a reserve member of Zeta Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma in Wichita Falls, TX, a member of the Texas State Teachers Association and the National Education Association.

Survivors include: one brother - A.D. Davis of Planterville, TX; two nephews - A.D. Davis, Jr. of Houston, TX, and Jim Davis of Houston, TX; five great nieces; and nine great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father.

Funeral services for Miss Davis were at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika with Willis Worley, Jr. and Audie Dorrough officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.

Notes for CALLOWAY LEEMAN BLANTON:

Was born on the his Father Andrew Bray Blanton farmstead, near the

Squaw Creek Community in Bell Co. Texas. He was the second son of

eleven children born to Andrew Bray Blanton and Martha Jane Meek. He

grew up In Gatesville until he was 16 years old as a water boy and

worked up to construction section forman for the Southern Pacific

Railroad in Cleburne, Johnson Co. until 1916 when the railroad was

struck by the workman. On 21, Sept 1917 he married Ruth Marie Waston

Born in Itasca, Hill Co. They moved to 400 Washington Ave. in Waco,

Texas in early part of 1918. They had their first son, Douglas Jasper on 1

May 1918. They moved to the Ather Jasper "Bud" Watson Farm in Runnels

Co. some time in 1920 where they worked as sharecrop farmers and had

their second son Winford Leeman "Bud" and a daugther named Mildred

Ann who died at the age of two. He moved with his family in the spring of

1923 to the west side of Valley Creek 14 miles west of Winters, Runnles

Co. until on 4 July 1930 when he moved his family to Dallas, Texas where

he lived at 2906 Swiss Ave. and worked in the shop at Central Motor

Frieght with his brother, Robert"Bob" Blanton and later he and his

brother Bob help build and operate the first ice cream plant as a

machanical engineer for the Cabell Brothers in 1936. He died on 12 Nov.

1944 at the age of 59 and he was buried at the Oakwood Cementary

Dallas, Dallas Co.,Texas.

School in Winters in Sept 1925. On July 4, 1930 moved with his family to

Dallas, Texas and in Sept. of that year entered 4th grade at Stehpen F.

Austin Elem. in East Dallas. He started in 1930 age 12 working a

newspaper route for the then Dallas Dispatch now the Dallas Times

Hearld. He graduated 7th grade in May of 1935 and started working as

flooring carpenter with a flooring and decking contractor Guellit &

Smith. During WW2 worked until November 1942. He returned to Dallas

and drove package delivery service for department stores until March 4

1946 and quit the package delivery service and started working again

as a carpenter and later as a a drywall contractor until April of 1983

when he retired . He passed away at home on February 8, 2004.
